"LET'S GO, OAKLAND!" chanted the excited and appreciative students!  On Tuesday, April 14, 2009, Oakland A's relief pitcher, Jerry Blevins, came to visit McKinley's own A's Home Run Readers in the Multipurpose Room.  Jerry congratulated the packed room of students for reaching their reading goals and encouraged everyone to be lifelong readers.  He also signed autographs and gave students signed memorabilia for correctly answering A's-related trivia questions!  We sincerely thank Jerry and the Oakland A's Community Fund for having this great reading incentive program to support our students!  The students are all looking forward to the A's Home Run Readers game on May 27th at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum!  To learn more about the A's Home Run Readers and other educational programs, visit http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/oak/community/education.jsp
