On Wednesday, March 18, 2009, Mr. Truong's fourth/fifth grade class went on an EBMUD Creek Restoration field trip to the Chabot Staging Area Educational Site in Castro Valley. At the Navy Flat Creek area, the students were introduced to Ranger Joe whom taught them about the watershed environment and the creek's ecosystem. After his brief talk and safety reminders, the students and parent chaperones got straight to work restoring the earth! They planted oak trees and wildflowers, added mulch, and made circular fences to protect their newly planted saplings. The nature lovers' participation made a difference, and it was really rewarding for everyone to see an act of kindness done well! |
