On Thursday, April 30, 2009, Mr. Truong's fourth and fifth grade class went on a field trip to the Davis Street Education Center in San Leandro.  Once at the center, the docent, Joe, taught the class about the 4 R's of Conservation (Reduce, Reduce, Recycle, and Rot) and saving the environment.  After the lecture, the students suited up to tour the Davis Street Transfer Station and learned first-hand what happens to the million tons of garbage that is collected here everyday.  Students also learned the importance of reducing the amount of waste going to our landfills and preventing climate change.  To learn more about the programs offered by StopWaste.org, please visit: http://www.stopwaste.org/
