YOU ARE HERE: HOME --> CLASSROOMS --> MRS. WILSON

I am very happy to be your child's teacher.
The first trimester report card
conference will be the week of Nov. 26-30, 2007.
Parents will have a conference with the classroom teacher about
their child's report card. A note scheduling the conference will
be sent home. Parents should confirm the appointment time by signing
and returning the note to the teacher.
Please give your child an excuse note when he or she has been absent. An absence excuse form is attached to this letter. You may write your child's excuse note on this form or on your own note paper. Thank you.
Birthday parties at school
Students may not have birthday parties at school. This is a new
policy. We are trying to use every minute of the school day for
academic development. We apologize for any inconvenience that
this policy may cause.
Homework
The first official weekly homework pack will go home on Monday,
September 17, 2007. Students will receive homework on Monday.
The completed homework pack will be due on the following Friday.
Students are expected to do their own writing. Parents may not
write the answers for their child. However, students will need
adult supervision while doing their homework. Please have your
child use pencil for written work. Students should do their best
work.
School Hours
It is most important that your child gets to school on time everyday.
On time means being in line outside when the bell rings. When
students interrupt the class by coming in late, instructional
minutes are lost. Attendance is recorded on report cards and passed
on in your child's school records. Please be prompt about picking
up your child at dismissal time.
Early Readers - 8: 1 0 am - 1: 50 pm
Late Readers - 9:15 am - 3:00 pm (Teachers pick the class up at
9:30 am. 9:15 to 9:30 is a recess period. Late Readers may leave
their backpacks at our line up area between 9:15 and 9:30. This
is a good time to go to the bathroom quietly before going to class
at 9:30. Students should not arrive before 9: 15 because there
is not yard duty supervision before this time.)
Rainy days
Early Readers should go to the cafeteria on rainy momings. I will
pick them up in the cafeteria at 8: 1 0 am.
Late Readers should sit quietly in the hallway next to their classroom door on rainy mornings. I will open the classroom door at 9:15 am. It is important for Late Readers to be quiet in the hallway because students are working in the classroom.
Library
Room 5 will begin checking out library books from the McKinley
Library on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. Students may keep the
books for one week. Library books will be due on Wednesday for
the rest of the school year. If a student does not return his
/her library book he/she will not be able to check out a another
book until the overdue book is returned. Please see that your
child takes good care of his/her book. Our school librarian does
charge for damaged and lost books.
Switching classes for Language
Arts instruction
In approximately one week some First Grade students will switch
teachers for Language Arts instruction. You may see your child
walk out to the dismissal area with another teacher at 1:50 pm.
This group switching is no indication of your child's ability
level. The group, as a whole, is well prepared for first grade.
If your child does experience some area of academic difficulty
his/her homeroom teacher will notify you of this.
