YOU ARE HERE: HOME --> CLASSROOMS --> MS. SPENCER

September 2004
Dear Room One Families,
Our first day together as a class went very well yesterday. I look forward to the learning ahead of us. Finding out what makes each of my students special is important to me and that knowledge will help me to understand what each child needs to be their best.
I
introduced Colleen Callaghan to some of you. She will be teaching
with me this fall. She comes to McKinley by way of the teaching
credential program at Cal
State Hayward. Her support in Room 1 will benefit our students
greatly.
Some notes-
School starts at 8:10 and ends at 1:50. This will be the schedule until Sept. As we get closer to that date, I will give you more details about our staggered schedule and early and late reading groups.
Please read the information about the school lunch program. Lunch is still $1.75.
Each child should bring something to eat at our 10am recess. Snacks like crackers, cheese, or fruit will keep your child's energy level high. This is vital for learning to occur. Please do not send candy or soda.
This year, I am asking each family
to send in the following:
two glue sticks, a package of pencils (yellow with erasers) and
a box of Kleenex.
These will not have names on them. They will be part of our class
supply set. Also, please send in an old pillowcase as soon as
possible. You'll get it back in June.
Leave all other school supplies and toys at home. 2nd graders get distracted by things from home.
Put your child's name on anything you want them to bring home- lunch boxes, jackets, sweatshirts, etc.
Homework will go home on Wednesdays
and be due the following Wednesday.
The first packet will go home next Wednesday, the 8th. They will
start out as reading logs alone and I'll add more throughout the
month of September.
If you have any questions, feel free to talk with me at the end of the school day. Back to School Night will be on Thursday, September 18. Please mark you calendar. I look forward to seeing you then.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Spencer
