PE Rules & Procedures

1. "Iceberg" is the freeze command. STOP, LOOK, LISTEN!
2. Raise your "Big A" if you have something to say!
3. Active Listening is very important. "When I talk I teach!" Speak when called upon.
4. Use Names and Polite Point.
5. Bring your own water to PE. Water Breaks are not guaranteed! Use "water chant" when drinking water in PE.
6. Hand's behind walking, if not you will go to the end of the line. "Hand's behind will save us time!"
7. Two kinds of touching allowed: PE Pound and High Five
8. Sportsmanship is more important than Competition. No game is more important than the people you are playing with.
9. If you are leaving the line you are responsible to tell the person behind and in front of you why and get agreement from them otherwise if you leave the line you could lose your spot.
10. Use bathrooms at Recess. If it is an emergency please ask for permission to go.
11. If you struggle over equipment, you both lose it.
12. No cell phones, purses, backpacks, toys etc. anything that can inhibit your movement and learning.
13. Pants worn at the waistline.
14. Handoffs are always the safest, smartest exchange when possible.
15. Wear athletic shoes, closed toe, lace up preferable.
16. "Cut paper not people!" We cut in art not PE!
17. Remember "You are as good as anyone but no better than anybody!"

Don't be a "learning thief" and respect your team mates right to learn!

18. Bring an open-mind, good spirit and enjoy yourself. Physical Fitness is not a burden it is a pathway to a life of wellness, positive energy and success!

Verbal Vitamins

In PE we not only do exercises, we do "innercizes"! We stretch and strengthen our intellect by "taking" our Verbal Vitamins.

Verbal Vitamins are core virtues that Coach Youngblood stresses to develop character and values in his students.

Here is a list of some of the Verbal Vitamins the Eagles will be devouring this year. About 1 per month.

PE Language

PROHIBITED LIST:

S-T-U-P-I-D

Aha: We laugh with people not at them

S-up: Shut doors, windows not "ups"! "You S-up you mess up!"

Hat-e: "Hat" with an "e" on the end is not acceptable. I "prefer" or "dislike" is a good substitute.

Ugly: an "ugly" word!

S-U-C-K: is not OK, even to yourself.

Language Behaviors

Taunting: When you taunt and flaunt you are showing your insecurity.

Comparisons: "You throw like a ____", "I am faster than you"

Grandstanding: "When you win Celebrate within"

Pugnacity: Any behavior that provokes a student, or promotes a confrontation is no good!

Put Downs: Put Downs can come in many forms. Many of our rules are to preclude this negative behavior. Try "Bring ups" and encouragement vs. running people down in an attempt to make yourself look good.

Golden Rules:

"Any language that you would not use in church or in the presence of your grandma or parents should not be used in PE or school!"

Use language that promotes harmony, respect and teamwork!

Body Language such as High 5's, PE Pounds and "good games" are encouraged.

Remember Language is a choice! Try to think before you say something because you will be accountable for what comes out of your mouth!
