Back to School NightMs. Mrak's Third Grade Class Homework: Homework Packets - Friday - Friday Homework Packets will go home and come back to school with the students Friday - Friday. Please encourage personal responsibility in your students, we will be checking in homework daily in class, they must bring the packet back to school each morning. Missing Work: This can be an area of concern as I start to enter student progress in my record book. Assigned class work and homework is very important and is given to support your child's academic growth and personal responsibility. Please help your child understand that completing assignments is an important part of their job as they prepare for Forth Grade and homework is not optional. There are no shortcuts to Forth Grade. Your support with this is priceless, thank you. Absent work: If your child is absent the work needs to be turned in promptly upon his/her return. If absent on Monday and return to school and Tuesday the absent work should be turned in on Wednesday. Give yourself one day for everyday absent if there is a long-term absence. Absence and Tardiness: All absences and tardiness must be cleared with a written note. This note should state who was absent or tardy, the date of absence or tardy, the reason for the absence or tardy, and signed by the parent/guardian. Birthday Parties: Children celebrating birthdays during the school year may bring treats to share with the class. Cookies or cupcakes are preferred. Please let me know in advance if you plan to bring in treats. Our Calendar and daily agenda is very full with California standards for third grade. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Class Celebrations: Winter - December - the last afternoon before winter break Class celebrations will be planned, organized and implemented by Portable S.T.A.R. scholars. Bonus Points - 3rd Grade Store: Your S.T.A.R. Scholars will be "working" to earn "Bonus Points" to spend at the Portable C store. This special store will take place, near or on the last day of each trimester. Ask your scholar how they are doing and encourage them to continue to do "Be nice and work hard" at all times. Their hard work and appropriate behavior "pays off." Field Trips: I will let you know as soon as there are opportunities available. All field trips must be directly related to 3rd grade standards and will complement and support our goal to master 3rd grade. Special Projects: Portable C S.T.A.R. Scholars will have several at home projects to complete this academic school year. This is a list of possible upcoming assignments: Book reports - 3-5 and will begin later this fall Ways to support your scholar achieve academic success in third grade: 1. Do your best to see that your scholar is at school each and every day and on time. Help them to think of school as their job, encourage them to learn the importance of punctuality. 2. Check over your child's homework nightly and please remind them that neatness counts. 3. If your scholar is absent, send a note the same day that your child returns to school. 4. Return library books on time and in good condition. If lost, please replace the book immediately. 5. When you like to speak with a teacher , please make an appointment before school, after school or during a non-class time. When a class is interrupted, every minute or two, actually means that twenty young scholars are not learning. If you would like homework for a sick child, simply call the school office and make the request the day before you wish to pick it up. This gives the teacher time to prepare it without taking away from the other students academic time. 6. If you need take your child out of school during the day, the must be signed out in the office before coming to the room. 7. If you would like to make a donation to the class, the teacher will be happy to provide you with a list of materials and books that will support our studies throughout the year. "In short, the habits we form from childhood make no small difference, but rather they make all the difference." "An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest." Intelligence plus character - That is the goal of true education. There are no shortcuts. Be nice and work hard. |
