Welcome to Mrs. D’Antonio’s Fourth Grade Classroom! This year we will be learning the many academic, organizational and social skills that will help us succeed in school as well as in life. In Fourth Grade we have many standards to meet. Among these are: Language Arts: develop and master the skills to write a well-crafted multi-paragraph composition. Read and comprehend literature including fantasies, fables, myths, legends, and fairy tales. Read and comprehend informational texts and non-fiction. Math: Learn and master the skills to do multi-digit multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and learning the shapes of geometric forms as well as how to measure them. Please use the back of your child’s first report card for more details. Also refer to the Standards pamphlets available at Back-to-School Night. We have recently completed Parent/ Teacher Conferences and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with all of you and learning more about your child! We have also recently completed our first bookmaking project in conjunction with the TARI Art Institute. They are retellings of a Laura Ingalls Wilder chapter book and will be on display soon in our school library! Please help your child at home by: Monitoring his/her Reading Log – Your child must read 20 minutes each weeknight in a quiet place and then complete a page of the monthly Reading Log. Supplying a quiet place to do homework and by checking frequently to see if your child is doing the homework correctly and neatly. Quiz your child on multiplication tables. Please help your child at school by: Sending him/her with a binder/folder to transport homework. Supplying your child with pencils (3 sharpened each day) – no other materials are necessary to send. If your child does not do their schoolwork completely, they will be expected to do it correctly during their recess. Thank you for your help in making your child’s education a success. Volunteers are always welcome, as are contributions of pencils, low-odor dry erase markers and glue sticks. Feel free to call me 618-4320 and leave a message with any questions at ext. 2959. I will call you back as soon as I can. Sincerely, Ann D’Antonio |
